Prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Offices of the RA and RF in Moscow have discussed the issues of prosecutorial supervision over the criminal cases regarding minors

Within the framework of implementation of cooperation program between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia for 2018-2020, a round table discussion has been held at the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation on the topic of “Prosecutorial supervision over the implementation of laws within the framework of cases concerning crimes committed by minors”.

 

Senior Prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia Karen Karapetyan and Gayane Gasparyan participated in the meeting. The representatives of the specialized department of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, as well as General Department of International Legal Cooperation, General Department for Supervision over the Investigation, Inquiry and Operational Search Activities of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation also participated in the meeting.

 

During the meeting the representatives of the RF Prosecutor General’s Office have highly appreciated the trends in deepening cooperation between the systems of the Prosecutor’s Offices of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation and the importance of joint programs implemented within the framework of these trends.

 

Marina Zaitseva, Head of the Division for Supervision over the Observance of the Rights, Freedoms and Legitimate Interests of Minors of the Directorate General for Supervision over the Implementation of Federal Legislation has noted that protecting minors from unlawful and unjustified charges is a priority for the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation.

 

During the meeting, the members of the delegation of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia have noted that close cooperation between the Prosecutor's Offices of the RA and RF, the implementation of joint similar events are an opportunity to exchange experiences and jointly address the modern issues in specific areas. They have also noted that protecting the interests and rights of child is crucial issue not only for each state, but also it is an international legal task. And in this sense, the need to strengthen international cooperation with a view to improve life, protect the rights and interests of children has been emphasized.

 

During the meeting, the parties have presented the features of criminal proceedings involving minors in the RA and RF, the framework and mechanisms of prosecutorial supervision, measures taken to increase the efficiency of prosecutorial supervision, and the possibilities and prospects of cooperation between the two countries.
