The Adviser to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia held a distance meeting with graduates of several universities

In the frame of cooperation between the RA Prosecutor General's Office and Yerevan State University, French University in Armenia and Russian-Armenian University, Adviser to the RA Prosecutor General Armen Harutyunyan had a distance meeting with more than 50 graduates of Law faculty of the mentioned universities.

 

The main objective of the meeting was to explain the graduates of the mentioned universities about the opportunities to enter the prosecutorial system in the framework of creating a personnel reserve in the RA Prosecutor's Office, speaking about the procedures, conditions and restrictions of becoming prosecutor as well as the public service position in the Prosecutor's Office.

 

Armen Harutyunyan noted that the RA Prosecutor's Office has adopted an approach to make the process of replenishment of the system more open, transparent, inclusive and informed that an announcement was made to conduct an extraordinary open competition, which is underway and the documents can be submitted until August 28, 2020 inclusive thus those people who meet the requirements of the announcement, including university graduates, can take advantage of this opportunity.

 

During the long and interesting discussion, the graduates and students participating in the distance meeting inquired about the opportunities to participate in the competition for the position of prosecutor, about citizenship, professional experience, condition of education, documents required for participation in the competition, questionnaires, and specialization in criminal law as well as other branches of law.

 

The Adviser to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia has explained that according to the new amendments to the RA Law on the Prosecutor's Office, citizens between the ages of 22-65 who have received a bachelor's or master's degree in law can be appointed prosecutors or if they have acquired a degree recognized in a foreign country in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation of the Republic of Armenia, speak Armenian are not subject to the restrictions established by the law.

 

It was also informed that, for holding the position of a prosecutor, it is mandatory to receive a positive conclusion in an open competition and to take part in relevant studies at the Academy of Justice with a positive result after being included in the list of candidates for prosecutor with some exceptions. As for the professional experience, Armen Harutyunyan noted that in order to participate in the open competition with the new legal regulations, there is no requirement for a lawyer to have professional work experience.

 

Armen Harutyunyan also answered other questions of students and graduates about the Prosecutor's office system and its functions during the meeting.
