The RA General Prosecutor's Office is conducting the process of staffing the structural subdivision carrying out the functions prescribed by the Law on Confiscation of Property of Illegal Origin.

 

By today's order of the RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan, Siro Amirkhanyan has been appointed Head of the Department for Confiscation of Property of Illicit Origin of the RA Prosecutor General's Office, Tigran Yenokyan - Deputy Head of the Department, Ani Sargsyan and Gevorg Qocharyan – Senior Prosecutors and Tigran Davtyan – Prosecutor of the Department.

 

It should be reminded that by the order of 1 September of the RA Prosecutor General, Srbuhi Galyan was appointed to the post of the RA Deputy Prosecutor General coordinating the sphere of functions aimed at confiscation of property of illicit origin.

 

According to the Law on Confiscation of Property of Illegal Origin, Articles 4-33 that define all the main legal procedures and functions of confiscation of property of illegal origin will enter into force when at least three prosecutors of the subdivision of the RA Prosecutor General's Office are appointed.

 

Taking into account that 5 prosecutors of this department have already been appointed, the subdivision is considered to be established, and thus the above-mentioned law fully enters into force.

 

Having in mind that circumstance, today, on September 3, the RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan held a working meeting with the participation of the RA Deputy Prosecutor General coordinating the functions aimed at confiscation of property of illegal origin and newly appointed prosecutors of this new department.

 

Congratulating them for their appointment, the RA Prosecutor General noted that the established subdivision will carry out functions of unprecedented nature and volume for the Republic of Armenia, which requires much more responsibility, high professionalism, welfare, dedication to the mission and effective team work.

 

Artur Davtyan added that the public demands from the new subdivision, as well as from the Prosecutor General's Office in general are too great, binding that all resources should be invested and return the illegally acquired property to the state according to law, recover the social justice and ensure the effectiveness of the anti-corruption struggle. Thus, based on the principle of proportionate and lawful protection of private, public interests, the Department for Confiscation of Property of Illicit Origin of the RA General Prosecutor's Office, as well as all prosecutors representing it, are required to be absolutely impartial, principled, and work exclusively in accordance with the law.

 

During the meeting, the issues of confiscation of property of illegal origin without any delays were discussed in order to set clear criteria for the examination of confiscation of property of illegal origin, starting investigations of property of illegal origin from other departments of the Prosecutor’s Office.
