The outcomes regarding the criminal state of the region, the measures undertaken as well as the activities of the office during 2020 have been summarized at the Prosecutor’s Office of Ararat Region.

 

1856 criminal offences were recorded in the region during 2020, which is 16.7 % more compared with 2019.

 

6 murders have been recorded in the territory of the region, which is more with one compared with 2019. Disclosure of murder cases have been 80%, cases intentionally causing damage to health decreased by 9 cases or 8,7%. The indicator of detection of such crimes in 2020 was 91,8% compared with 92,4% of the last year.

 

According to the materials prepared on the corruption crime records 55 criminal cases have been initiated which is more with 5 compared with 2019 (the outcomes will be summarized separately).

 

706 cases of crimes against property have been recorded in 2020, which is lower with 26, or 3,6% compared with 2019. Although cases of robbery have been decreased with 3 (4-7) or over 43% the indicator of crime detection compared with 2019 has decreased too.

 

The burglary cases have decreased in 50 per cent. In 2020 detection of 74 criminal cases is 35,1%, which is more with 6 compared with 2019. This dynamics is because of coronavirus pandemic and state of emergency during which people stayed at home and on the other hand because of measures undertaken by the prosecutor’s office, police and local authorities during 2019.

 

In particular, according to the suggestion of the prosecutor’s office of the region the entrances and exits of a number of communities, main roads have been provided with video cameras.

 

Cases of traffic crimes in Ararat Region have decreased with 12 cases or 8,6% /127-139/, but the cases with deaths have increased with 3. Detected traffic cases are 80% and cases with deaths are 33, 76,9%. 

 

Measures have been undertaken for prevention of traffic crimes, in particular, great attention is attached to the driving licenses both suspended and not allowed, or driving in an insane state. In the result 49 people have been charged for these crimes during 2020. Letters have been sent to the Minister of the RA Territorial Administration and Infrastructure and the Head of the Traffic Police in relation with the mapping of roads, problematic parts of roads where the accidents occurred often.

 

During 2020 the Prosecutor’s Office of the region has sent 27 requests and reports to the respective bodies, organizations in order to undertake measures in the field of abolishing the circumstances of the crime. In the result of the discussions instructions have been given to responsible people.

 

In the result 285 criminal cases on 328 people with indictment have been sent to the court which is more with 50 per cent compared with 2019.
