Traffic crimes increased in Shirak Region and fatal cases decreased: the Prosecutor’s Office has many things to do

The outcomes of the competencies of instituted by the Prosecutor’s Office in the scope of criminal proceedings in the fight against crime by the law-enforcement bodies were summarized by the Prosecutor’s Office of Shirak Region of the Republic of Armenia.

 

It was recorded 8 fatal cases during 2020, which is less with 3 or 33.3 % compared with 2019. The indicator of detection of criminal acts was improved – 44,4% compared with 38.1% of the last year.

 

The cases causing grave or medium grave damage to people also decreased compared with 58 cases in 2019, there were 51 cases in 2020 or less with 15.5%.

 

Decreasing tendency is due to cameras as well as amendments made in the RA Criminal Code.   

 

In the result legislative amendments during 2020, 64 cases envisaged under Article 243.1 added in the RA Criminal Code. Criminal cases were initiated in all cases, out of which 45 bills of indictment were sent to the court.

 

The studies showed that the traffic accidents are exceeding the speed limit, the drivers driving on the opposite lane of the traffic, falling asleep at the moment of driving, driving drunk, using a mobile phone, as well as pedestrians often crossing the road in an undefined place.

 

In the result of the studies by the initiation of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Region in 2020 motions were sent to the RA Road Police.

 

A motion was also sent to the Marzpet of Shirak in 2020 in order to repair the roads of the region.

 

One of the priorities is continuing the punitive policy in 2021 in order to abolish the consequences favoring the above-mentioned criminal acts.
