A criminal case was initiated on the fact of failure to fulfill the duties of protecting the Sevan National Park and the presence of 110 buildings in the central ecological zone of the lake in violation of the legislation

In the Department for the Protection of State Interests of the RA Prosecutor General's Office, on the basis of the information provided by the RA Ministry of Environment, an investigation was carried out in connection with the legitimacy of the presence of buildings, objects in the ecological zone of lake Sevan. For this, the necessary additional documents were requested and received from the RA Cadastre, the RA Ministry of Environment, Sevan National Park SNCO, which were studied.

 

During the investigation, it was found out that near Lake Sevan as of 10.08.2020 there is a main object (building) in the area of about 110.371 sqm. The property rights and leasing rights of these buildings were acquired in the period of 2011-2020.

 

And according to the RA Law "On Lake Sevan" ecological zones of central, direct influence and indirect influence are established for the restoration, protection and use of the ecosystem of Lake Sevan.

 

The said law regulates that the central zone is the territory of the Sevan National Park, the purpose of the division of which is to restore and protect the natural state of the lake ecosystem - water quality, natural and artificial landscapes of the lake.

 

Thus, the studies show that the competent officials of the Sevan National Park SNCO, by using their official position, contrary to the interests of the service, did not fulfill their duties to protect the Sevan National Park.

 

 Considering that in the course of the study sufficient data were established, indicating the presence of signs of abuse of official position by officials, a criminal case was initiated in the Department for the Protection of State Interests of the RA General Prosecutor's Office under Part 2 of Art. 308 of the RA Criminal Code. The preliminary investigation was entrusted to the RA IC.
