The Prosecutor General has raised the need to expand the psychological and psychiatric first aid of the relatives of the participants of war, killed or missing servicemen

In the scope of its functions of the Prosecutor’s Office it was found that a number of cases of suicides and suicide attempts are directly related with the physiological problems caused in the result of the unleashed war of 2020 against the Republic of Armenia and Republic of Artsakh.
In particular, according to the materials on the case of suicide at a building on Halabyan Street of Yerevan on 3 May 2021, it was found that a person with the date of birth 1975 has committed suicide throwing himself/herself from the balcony, he/she was a sniper and voluntarily took part in the 44-day war in “Ajapnyak” detachment, was in Hadrut, in Martakert, was bodily injured, he injured the spine and the leg. It turned out that the latter had seen numerous victims, lost friends and was in depressive state after coming back, had always used alcohol and made suicide attempts on March and April 2021.
In the scope of another case of suicide by throwing himself from the window of the flat on Babajanyan street of Yerevan city on May 10, 2021, it was found out that the son of the man who committed suicide was a conscript and took part in the 44-day war, being in the hottest spots in Shushi, Lisagor and Qarintak. Not having any information from his son, being aware of his son's friends’ deaths for some time during the war, aware of his friends' deaths, the father visited various morgues trying to look for and find his corpse as a result of which his mental inner world was destroyed.
Besides, on 26 of April 2021 a person born in 1993 called the Ministry of Emergency Situations and informed that he is next to the Bridge Kievyan of Yerevan City: During the filing of materials he/she gave explanations that he had voluntarily taken part in the military actions of 2016 April and the second Artsakh war of 2020. He couldn’t sleep, because there were always corpses of servicemen in front of him, he always felt afraid, he couldn’t sleep and he didn’t want to sleep.
In other words, has a negative impact on the psychological health of people, especially for war participants, families of victims and missing persons, those directly affected by the war resulting various psycho-traumatic situations, as well as various psychological disorders. The impact of this psychological problem can be quite long and difficult to overcome if the measures taken to neutralize them are not comprehensive and complex, i.e. these individuals need special care.
The analysis of the causes and consequences of the above-mentioned psychological problems, as well as the actions aimed at their solution, are essential for the RA Prosecutor's Office, in order minimize the tragic consequences of the post-war period.
Taking into account the above-mentioned, the urgent solution of the problem and its social significance, the RA General Prosecutor Artur Davtyan sent a letter to the RA Acting Minister of Defense, the RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, proposing to discuss the above-mentioned cases with professional circles dealing with psychological problems caused by the war. Comprehensive psychological and psychiatric first aid provided to family members directly involved in hostilities. It was also proposed to expand the provision of physiological health services.
