The Prosecutor General initiated criminal prosecution against T. Gh., the Head of Engineering service of the N military unit of the Ministry of Defense of the RA under article 550, part 3 (Military official negligence, which negligently caused human death).

 

T. Gh., the Head of Engineering service, being responsible for the material supply of the unit entrusted to him, being obliged to provide the unit with weapons, military equipment and other material means, negligently did not commit his service duties, including the provision of the fire protection of the N unit. As a result, negligently caused human death.

 

On 19 January 2023, after midnight, the officer of the engineering service of the military unit, in violation of the set order, lit the stove with gasoline in the accommodation intended for the staff of the above-mentioned unit, located at house 20, 1st street, Azat village, Gegharkunik region. As a result, a fire broke out in the shelter. Due to the absence of relevant fire protection means and reserve exit, the soldiers not only failed to put the fire out, but also to break the iron bars of the shelter’s windows and get out. As a result, 15 compulsory military servants of the same troop, resting in the shelter, died, the officer and 4 compulsory military servants got bodily injuries of various degree.
