Due to the examination conducted by the Department of State Interests Protection of the Central Military Prosecutor’s Office, in the first quarter of 2023, it was discovered that the 45 items of road construction equipment had been obtained by the Department of Engineering Company of the RA Armed Forces in alleged inflated prices.

 

The prices of the spare parts were compared with the prices offered in the Armenian market and by the organizations operating in the Eurasian Economic Union’s countries.

 

45 out of about 700 engineering-road construction machinery spare parts were selected, the price of which was significantly higher than the prices offered for the same products in the market.

 

18 out of 45 spare parts were bought at a price higher than 8 million 981 thousand 896 AMD, and 27 - at a price of higher than 73 million 949 thousand 800 AMD.

 

Taking into account that the circumstances revealed by the examination allegedly contain elements of any act provided for by the Criminal Code, the results were sent to the Investigative Committee to resolve the issue of initiating criminal proceedings.

 

On April 20, 2023, criminal proceedings were initiated in the General Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee under article 446, part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (official negligence, which caused property damage in particularly large-scale).
