A working group was formed at the RA General Prosecutor’s Office in regard with the forthcoming elections

According to the order of the RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan, a working group was established at the RA General Prosecutor's Office for registering and listing publications, reports by the citizens regarding reports and alarms on possible electoral crimes during the preparation and holding of the RA National Assembly extraordinary elections scheduled on June 20, 2021, in order to increase the efficiency of the prosecutorial supervision over the preliminary investigation of the criminal cases initiated in the result of the materials prepared.
Taking into account the imperative to conduct the whole electoral process without criminal violations, in line with democratic principles, the working group will be headed by the RA Prosecutor General. The Deputy Prosecutors General of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the heads of the structural divisions and the heads of the staff of the Prosecutor's Office having functions related to criminal proceedings, collection and processing of information on electoral crimes are included in the group.
The working group will initiate overall monitoring of media coverage of the electoral process, information and internet resources published by mass media, will study the monitoring of possible electoral crimes in the process of preparation and conduction of the extraordinary elections, as well as will study the reports received by other means, will assist the structural subdivisions of the Prosecutor's Office in exercising prosecutorial supervision over the discussion of those reports, the preparation of materials and the preliminary investigation of the initiated criminal cases.
One of the main tasks of the group is to provide regular, operative coverage on the above-mentioned measures and their outcomes.
A hotline will be activated at the RA Prosecutor General's Office in the near future in order to ensure the effectiveness of the work and respond quickly and effectively to the alarms of the subjects involved in the elections, about which further information will be provided.
In the scope of fight against electoral crimes the working group will closely cooperate with the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Armenia, the election observation missions, interested international and local organizations, other law enforcement bodies, and media covering the elections.
The structural subdivisions of the Prosecutor’s Office and the prosecutors were instructed to discuss the reports on electoral violations, to proceed and to solve the issues of exercising supervision over the criminal proceedings, as soon as possible.
