Artur Davtyan has assigned the RA NSS and RA Police to undertake all measures regarding illegal trafficking of arms, prevention and detection of crimes combined with violations

December 07, 2020

After the war unleashed against the Republic of Artsakh keeping a large number of different types of weapons and ammunition has created serious dangers for their illegal trafficking after the end of the hostilities. The latter is proved by numerous cases of illegal transfer of weapons and ammunition from Artsakh to Armenia and dozens of criminal cases initiated.

The events taking place in the Republic of Armenia after the end of hostilities, the crimes related to them, in public speeches, including the statements made at the rally on December 5, 2020 held in the Freedom Square of Yerevan city, together with positions on the inevitability or permissibility of certain actions, create criminal risks for the usage of weapons threats to the life, health and public order of citizens, including those participating in mass rallies.

Based on the above, Artur Davtyan, the RA Prosecutor General today addressed letters to the Director of the RA National Security Service and the Head of the RA Police to take necessary operative-investigative measures immediately, prevent crimes combined with violence to activate the work carried out in that direction.

At the same time we again call the citizens of the Republic of Armenia not to be engaged in the above-mentioned criminal acts combined with violence. Otherwise all the people engaged in such actions will face criminal liability.
