Prevention of the “massacre” of forests: the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia gave assignments to the Prosecutors of Tavush and Gegharkunik regions

In February 20, the results of the activity of the prosecutor’s offices of Gegharkunik and Tavush regions during 2022 were summarized under the leadership of Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia.
The Prosecutor General attended the Prosecutor’s Office of Gegharkunik region, where Gagik Ayvazyan, Acting Prosecutor represented information on the state of crime recorded in the regions, circumstances contributing the commission of crime as well as disclosure rates, etc.
According to Gagik Avagyan, the number of crimes recorded in Gegharkunik region during 2022 increased by 90 (compared to the previous year) amounting to 1295 cases. Three cases of murder were registered during 2022 (no case of murder was registered during 2021).
The number of crimes against property decreased by 42, amounting to 324 cases, however the number of burglary increased by 31 amounting to 67 cases.
The next working visit of the Prosecutor General was to the Prosecutor’s Office of Tavush region. Gor Aloyan, Prosecutor of the region represented the results of 2022. Particularly 897 cases of crime were registered in Tavush region during 2022 (1021 cases during 2021). Increase in the number of crimes of medium gravity was recorded during 2022, amounting to 338 (320 cases during 2021), and a decrease in the number of grave crimes—128 cases (143 cases during 2021) and the number of particularly grave crimes increased by 7, amounting to 13 cases (6 cases during 2021).
Anna Vardapetyan, the Prosecutor General, gave an assignment to the Prosecutor of Tavush region to start examination related to the land use and felling in Dilijan national park, develop an action plan with other law enforcement agencies regarding the prevention of “massacre” of the forests.
