A case of illegal purchase and sale of a newborn baby was revealed in Shirak region. Criminal case was initiated.

As a result of coordinated investigative and operational-search measures carried out in Kumayri Division of Gyumri city of Shirak region Department of the RA Police under the prosecutor's control of the Prosecutor's Office of Shirak region, data were obtained that on 20.08.2018 a resident of Gyumri sold her newborn baby to a couple from Yerevan for 1.200.000 AMD.
In the course of the investigation, reliable data were obtained that a resident of Armavir region (born in 1992) got married with a resident of Gyumri (born in 1989) and on 20.08.2018 gave birth to a girl, after which she gave her mother-in-law and her husband false information that the newborn died. And with the help of her mother, for 1.200.000 AMD sold the girl to a couple from Yerevan.
It was also found out that the mother of the child and a resident of Yerevan presented false data on the child's fatherhood to the Civil Acts Registration Office and thus were able to register the false fact of the child's fatherhood.
Taking into account that the prepared materials contain signs of crimes regarding the sale of a newborn, as well as the submission of false information to the Civil Acts Registration Office, in the Prosecutor's Office of Shirak region was made a decision to initiate a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 168 and Art. 169.1 of the RA Criminal Code.
The criminal case was sent to the Investigative Department of Shirak of the RA Investigative Committee with the instruction to carry out the preliminary investigation.
