Vahe Harutyunyan, RA Military Prosecutor and RA Deputy Prosecutor General accompanied by Armen Avtandilyan, Head of Conscription and Mobilization Service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia visited the Central Assembly Point of the RA Ministry of Defense where he was present at the conscription process, personally attended the draw, the procedure of its implementation and conditions as well as the medical examinations.

 

The Military Prosecutor met with the conscripts, listened to their concerns and suggestions at the Central Assembly Point and had a video chat with the conscripts' parents. The Military Prosecutor said that the objective of his visit to the Central Assembly Point of the RA Ministry of Defense is to follow the proper, legal organization of the conscription process which has a continuous nature. He gave importance to the complaints or claims from the parents or conscripts about the impartiality of the draw.

 

V. Harutunyan has also been present at the organization of medical examinations held at the assembly point during which he had a private talk with various doctors, as well as with the examined conscripts, listened to their health complaints. In some cases, in order to dispel doubts about the health of some individuals, he instructed to undertake measures to conduct a double and more detailed examination.

 

The RA Military Prosecutor was informed that some conscripts were returned to the territorial subdivision from the Central Assembly Center for double examination and health examination during the summer conscription of 2020. Vahe Harutyunyan gave relevant instructions to reveal the possible shortcomings of the competent officials or doctors by means of prosecutorial influence and gave a legal assessment.

 

Summing up the suggestions and certain complaints, the RA Military Prosecutor has expressed his considerations to the Head of Conscription and Mobilization Service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia in order to improve the conscription process and organizational issues.

 

Assessing the process of organizing the conscription mainly satisfactory, at the end of the visit V. Harutyunyan wished good service to the youths joining the ranks of the RA Armed Forces, assuring that they will be under the legal protection of the state.
