Criminal cases have been initiated at the RA Prosecutor’s Office for illegal crossing of the RA border and violating territorial integrity, as well as using violence by Azerbaijani Armed Forces against the Armenian military servicemen

Information was prepared at the Division of Military Police of Vardenis upon the instruction of Sevan Garrison Military Prosecutor’s Office and factual data was obtained stating that a group of Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized by commanders of Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan have crossed the state border of the Republic of Armenia in the area situated at the settlement Verin Shorzha of Vardenis, Gegharkunik Region on 12 May.
The Azerbaijani servicemen moved 2-3 km throug the territory of the Republic of Armenia and settled, threatening to fire on the servicemen of the RA Armed Forces if they came nearer, declaring that the territory belonged to Azerbaijan.
In the result of prepared materials on 18 May a criminal case was initiated at Sevan Garrison Military Prosecutor’s Office under Article 300.2 and Article 329, Part of the RA Criminal Code, the preliminary investigation of which was entrusted to the 5th Garrison Investigative Division of the General Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
In addition it was instructed to check the circumstances of the quarrel between the military servicemen of Azerbaijan and Armenia, which later was joined by the video spread on the social networks on 19.05.2021.
In the result of the study, it was found out that in the result of service violations of a number of servicemen and officials of the military corps N of the RA Ministry of Defense, on 17.05.2021 a large unit of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan infiltrated the area under the protection of the RA Armed Forces, used violence against the RA servicemen, forced them to leave their positions. As a result of the actions taken by the RA servicemen, the servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan were thrown back to their starting positions.
Regarding the mentioned actions a criminal case was initiated under Article 365, Part 3 and Article 376, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code and the preliminary investigation of the criminal case was entrusted to the 5th Garrison Investigative Division of the General Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
