May 26, 2021
The RA Prosecutor General A. Davtyan visited Kotayk region and Aragatsotn region today and held consultations in the Prosecutor's Offices of the regions with the participation of the heads of all local law enforcement agencies.
Artur Davtyan noted that the upcoming parliamentary elections are important in terms of reducing the risks of internal and external security of the Republic, and law enforcement agencies are more than ever obliged to multiply their efforts to ensure the legality of the elections in all possible ways.
It was noted that, with the amendments made to the RA Criminal Code before the previous parliamentary elections, all major electoral crimes are classified as grave, which allows law enforcement agencies to use a wider range of operational-search measures in the fight against them, both for detecting crimes and for detecting the perpetrators and subjecting them to liability.
At the same time, the RA Prosecutor General demanded that law enforcement agencies comply with the legislative requirement on political neutrality and restraint, refrain from participating in any illegal processes, noting that any such interference will inevitably lead to specific consequences, including to criminal liability.
Artur Davtyan instructed the prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Offices of the regions to closely cooperate with the working group formed in the RA Prosecutor General's Office to promptly respond to criminal violations.
According to the mentioned agenda, the visits of the RA Prosecutor General to the regions continue, earlier Artur Davtyan held such a meeting in Ijevan with the heads of the law enforcement agencies of Tavush region.
