The RA General Prosecutor’s Office reminds

The RA Prosecutor's Office expects that the political parties taking part in the elections, the voters, as well as other subjects involved in the elections will have high civic consciousness and behave lawfully on polling day. To this regard, the RA Prosecutor’s Office wants to inform the following:

 

Theft of the ballot box, the list signed by the voters, the registration book of the precinct election commission, the seals of the commission, the member of the commission, the self-adhesive stamp, the voting pass, technical equipment carrying out registration of electors the camera, the ballot box or the package of ballot papers is a criminal offence and it is punished with imprisonment for up to 6 years.

 

The police shall ensure proper order in each polling station, assist the commissions at the request of the chairperson of the electoral commission, ensures the safe transportation and storage of electoral documents in the electoral commissions.

 

Each citizen, if involved in or witnesses of criminal acts in the polling station or adjacent area, should immediately turn to the police station, contact the police officers, as well as alert other law enforcement agencies.

 

At the same time, we remind you again that if a member of the commission, proxy or observer finds that a violation of the order was made during the voting, he/she has the right to demand that his/her assessment to be recorded in the registration book of the precinct election commission.

 

In other words, all participants in the electoral process who have the right to be present in the polling station are obliged to exercise their powers in strict compliance with the procedures stipulated by the RA Electoral Code.

 

Bypassing these procedures, neglecting them, including especially using or threatening violence, such as obstructing the free exercise of a citizen's right to vote, obstructing the powers of a commission member, proxy, observer, media representative, or others, results in criminal liability. Up to 6 years in prison.

 

That is to say, all the participants of the electoral process who have the right to be present in the polling station are obliged to exercise their powers in the scope of all the above-mentioned cases prescribed by the RA Electoral Code.

 

Exercising powers by any participant in the electoral process, bypassing or disregarding the above-mentioned procedures and rules of the Code carried out by force or by threat, may result in criminal liability, as well as violence or threat of violence in the precinct center or the area adjacent to the entrance, which has influenced or may affected the normal election process, is punished with imprisonment for up to six years.
