The Prosecutor of Lori Region raised the issue of the officials in office convicted for the crimes regarding illegal forestry

The Prosecutor of Lori Region studied the data of the employers of “Hayantar” SNCO. It turned out that some officials who caused large damage to the state are still on office.
For example, during the office Ts. N., the director of the branch “Stepanavan forestry”, 104 different kinds of trees were cut and he/she was found guilty according to Article 315, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code and was punished with a fine with the amount of 500.000 AMD.
The latter has a status of accused, he/she is charged under Article 311, Part 3, Point 2 of the RA Criminal Code (taking bribe by an official by a prior agreement of a group) and under Article 34-312, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code (Attempt of bribe giving).
Or regarding criminal case of 22 March 2021 on M. Ch., the forester, or the case of 31 January 2018 on H. Q., the employer of Stepanavan forestry, decisions were made not initiating prosecution for the expiration of limitation period. It was founded by the investigation that they have committed a crime under Article 315, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code, made official negligence, in the result of which they caused the state damage of 8 million AMD.
In another case V. H. was pleaded guilty under Article 296, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code for illegal cutting and transporting the wood without permission and was punished with a fine.
And V. B. from Shamlugh forestry was pleaded guilty under Article 315, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code and caused the state damage with 3.2 million AMD. V. B. was punished with imprisonment of one year, but the punishment was not conditionally applied, he was sentenced to one year probation, and in 2018 he was released from punishment on the basis of amnesty.
The Prosecutor of Lori Region applied to the Acting head of “Hayantar” SNCO with a motion in order to discuss the issue of continuing the office by the mentioned officials.
In general, 52 motions were sent to “Hayantar” SNCO during 2021 aimed at excluding the conditions and causes of official crime. In the result 3 deputy heads, 5 heads of forest, 9 foresters were fired, 35 officials were disciplined – 13 heads of forest and 22 foresters.
Besides, 16 criminal cases were initiated for illegal forest cutting and bills of indictment were made on 3 people.
32 officials have the status of accused in 22 criminal cases in the phase of preliminary investigation.
