Due to the cooperation of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, the Prosecutor’s Office and National Security Service, silver items recognized as physical evidence were handed over to the History Museum of Armenia on February 15, 2023. The silver items placed under the storage included cartouches, segments of belts and tea sets.
Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic highlighted in her opening speech that taking into consideration the historical and cultural importance of the physical evidence, they decided to hand those silver items to the History Museum of Armenia on February 7, 2023, for the purpose of creating an opportunity of exhibition for our citizens and foreign guests. I am glad that both the Prosecutor’s Office and the National Security Service had a contribution in this important work.
The ESCS Minister thanked the law enforcement authorities on behalf of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and NSS, for the valuable initiative and for placing the valuable items under the storage in the right place.
The Minister also mentioned that the History Museum of Armenia shall organize an exhibition of jewelries making the new collection available to the general public.
We should mention, that the luggage of a foreign citizen was examined in “Zvartnots” customs house and 26 different, not declared silver items having cultural value were found out (having the total value of AMD 3 667 000). The proceedings under the criminal case was terminated in 2007, based on the fact that the accused was outside the borders of the RA territory and the preliminary examination of the criminal proceedings was resumed on December 29, 2022. The criminal proceedings was submitted to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the RA on January 3, 2023 and on February 7, 2023, among other decisions, a decision was rendered on placing the silver items recognized as physical evidence under the storage of the History Museum of Armenia.
