A drug (methamphetamine) smuggling case is revealed. Iranian citizen is detained.

In May 2022, S.H., citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran, illegally obtained and kept “methamphetamine” type of drug in very large amounts—10165.95 g. for the purpose of delivering to foreign countries from Armenia and realizing through smuggling.

 

By the preliminary examination carried out by the General Department of Investigation of Smuggling and Economic Crimes of the RA Investigative Committee it was found out that S.H. delivered the “Methamphetamine” type of drug (3270.1 g.) to the Republic of Austria through smuggling and tried to deliver the other part of the drug (3467.62g.) to Australia, however the latter was not able to complete the crime. The drug was detected by the SRC's Anti-Smuggling Department and the same type of drug (3428.23) was detected in the hotel, where he temporarily lived.

  

According to the decision of the supervising prosecutor of February 8, 2023, a public criminal prosecution was initiated against S.H. under point 2 of part 3 of article 393, point 2 of part 3 of article 44-399 and point 2 of part 3 of article 399 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.

 

Charges were brought against S.H.: detention was chosen as a measure of restraint.

 

The preliminary examination under the criminal proceedings was completed. On March 2, 2023, according to the decision of the supervising prosecutor, the indictment was approved and submitted to the court together with the materials of the case.
