The Prosecutor General submitted a motion to the President of the National Assembly on giving a consent to initiate a criminal proceedings against M.S. Deputy of the National Assembly

Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, pursuant to point 1 of article 108 of the Constitutional Law “On the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly”, submitted a motion to Alen Simonyan, President of the National Assembly on giving consent for initiating a criminal proceedings against M.S., NA deputy on April 10, 2023. Pursuant to the requirement of the same point the draft decision of the National Assembly on giving consent for initiating a criminal proceedings against the deputy was also attached to the motion.

 

Pursuant to the factual data obtained under the criminal proceedings, during the closed working discussion in 314 discussion hall of 2nd administrative building of the National Assembly held on March 31, 2023 at 11:15 the latter openly opposed to V.V., president of the Standing Committee of State legal affairs of the National Assembly.

 

By the examination of the materials of the criminal proceedings in the Prosecutor’s Office of Yerevan city it was found out, that factual data were obtained which provided basis for initiating public criminal prosecution against the deputy M.S. under part 1 of article 297 and point 7 of part 2 of article 171 of the RA Criminal Code.  

 

Pursuant to article 96 of the RA Constitution, criminal proceedings may be initiated against a deputy only upon the consent of the National Assembly. 

 

Notice:  A person charged with any crime shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code—by the judgment came into legal force.
