May 31, 2023

On May 30, Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, visited Georgia by the invitation of Irakli Shotadze, Prosecutor General of Georgia to participate in the event dedicated to 105th anniversary of the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia and congratulated Georgian partners on the occasion of professional holiday.

Anna Vardapetyan particularly said:

«Honorable Mr. Shotadze, dear colleagues,

I am honored to participate in the event dedicated to 105th anniversary of the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia and deliver my speech from this platform.

Dear colleagues,

I would like to congratulate you on the occasion of professional holiday on behalf of myself and all the prosecutors of the Republic of Armenia. I am sure that due to your professional and personal qualities as well as faithfulness to the mission of protecting the rights and freedoms of the crime victims and unyielding struggle against the crime, you will achieve success in the process of ensuring the rule of law and legitimacy.

Dear colleagues,

This is my first visit to Georgia as the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia. Based on the historical and amicable relations between our countries and effective cooperation between the Prosecutor’s Offices I am sure that our meeting shall be continuous and the cooperation shall have a new quality despite our heavy workload.

Dear colleagues,

Numerous meetings and discussion of multilayer issues by the heads of our countries show the rich history of the diplomatic and interstate relations between Armenia and Georgia, importance of our personal contacts and high level of amicable relations between Armenia and Georgia.

In this context, I would like to highlight the care of Georgian population and state authorities for the citizens of Armenia visiting Georgia. Armenian people actively visit Georgia due to personal, business and cultural ties, and large Armenian community in Georgia.

The cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of our countries is also effective and continuous.

The international-legal cooperation with regard to the criminal cases between Armenia and Georgia is implemented based on the bilateral and multilateral international agreements and what is more important for me, on the amicable relations between the Prosecutor’s Offices and goodwill in the absence whereof ensuring the effectiveness of cooperation would be impossible.

We don’t have problematic points with our Georgian colleagues in the scope of international-legal cooperation as the high level of relations between the Prosecutor’s Offices of two countries permits us to operatively overcome all challenges through collaboration.

In this regard I would like to especially thank our Georgian colleagues, for day-to-day assistance in criminal cases.

Honorable Mr. Shotadze,

Summarizing my speech, I would like to thank for the invitation and for accepting my invitation to participate in the events dedicated to 105th anniversary of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and invitation to participate in the conference organized together with the Council of Europe.

Once again congratulating on the occasion of the anniversary and professional holiday I wish you new achievements in the prosecutor’s honorable service, strength to withstand the challenges of modern times and happiness.

At the end of the event, Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, awarded Irakli Shotadze, Prosecutor General of Georgia a medal for “Strengthening the cooperation”.
