The Prosecutor General discussed a number of topics of mutual interest with the EU Ambassador

Today Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan received the Head of the the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos.

 

Anna Vardapetyan congratulated the Ambassador on assuming the responsible position and emphasized that Vassilis Maragos' deep awareness of the sensitive issues of the region would contribute to the efficient implementation of his mission, the strengthening of the supremacy of law and human rights, and the development of cooperation.

 

Before discussing the topics on the agenda, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia referred to the consequences of the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the civilian population of Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19 — after the months-long blockade of the Lachin Corridor, as well as the activities carried out by the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia in cooperation with foreign partners, aimed at to announcing a search for the persons who committed crimes prohibited by the Criminal Code.

 

During the meeting, reference was made to the development of an agreement between Eurojust and the competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia aimed at judicial cooperation in criminal cases. Both sides emphasized that the cooperation will contribute to increasing the efficiency of the investigation of transnational crimes.

 

During the meeting, inter alia, the format of cooperation with the European Union office in RA was also touched upon, as well as the frameworks of sectoral joint programs with the EU member states.
