The citizens provided passwords of their digital wallets to the convict: the prosecutor initiated a public criminal prosecution for embezzlement through computer means

On December 8, 2023, the prosecutor initiated a public criminal prosecution against A.H., the convict serving his sentence in the “Armavir” penitentiary institution of the Ministry of Justice for embezzlement in especially large amounts through computer means.
Under the criminal proceedings examined in the Investigative Committee it was found out that the convict A.H. called 49 different individuals and fraudulently obtained passwords sent to their phone numbers under various pretexts from June 10, 2021 until April 12, 2022.
After receiving the passwords, A.H. gained access to the “Idram” digital wallets of those individuals and concluded loan agreements through those digital wallets.
A.H. embezzled about AMD 39 million 803 thousand in the described way, transferring those amounts to his gaming accounts opened in different betting companies.
A public criminal prosecution was initiated under point 3 of part 3 of article 257 of the Criminal Code.
The Prosecutor General’s Office exhorts the citizens of the Republic of Armenia to refrain from providing data on their digital wallets and bank cards to other individuals.
