9 years of imprisonment for illegal drug circulation (350 kg “heroin” type of drug) and smuggling

A.Sh. citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran helped M.M., living in Iran to transfer “heroin” type of drug in a particularly large amounts— 350 kg from Iran to the Republic of Armenia, afterwards it was exported to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

 

By the preliminary examination of the criminal proceedings carried out in the Investigation Department of the State Revenue Committee it was found out that M.M. obtained “heroin” type of drug in a particularly large amounts— 350 kg and loaded the car with 1715 boxes of drug represented as dry yeast and delivered it to Armenia.

 

The car arrived in Armenia on February 11, 2021 through Meghri checkpoint, however he failed to complete the transportation of “heroin” type of drug in a particularly large amounts— 350 kg from Armenia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands through smuggling as the employees of the Customs Service of the Republic of Armenia found out the drug due to the examination of the cargo loaded in the car belonging to a Georgian company.

 

On January 8, 2022, charges were brought against A.Sh., citizen of Iran under point 1 of part 4 of article 38-267.1, point 2 of part 3 of article 38-266 and point 1 of part 4 of article 35-38-267.1 of the Criminal Code adopted on 18.04.2003.

 

Detention was chosen as a measure of restraint against A. Sh.

 

On January 12, 2022 the prosecutor signed the indictment and submitted it to the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan with the materials of the proceedings.

 

Based on the judgment of the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan dated February 13, 2023 A. Sh. was found guilty.  Imprisonment for 9 years was chosen as a final type of punishment against him.
