During the session of the board of the Prosecutor's Office, the state of crime in the republic during 2020 and the results of the activities of the RA Prosecutor's Office were discussed

At the session of the board of the RA Prosecutor General's Office, headed by the RA Prosecutor General A. Davtyan, the dynamics of crime in the republic in 2020, the work of the criminal prosecution bodies against crime and the results of the activities of the Prosecutor's Office were discussed.

 

In the session participated the Prosecutor General of Artsakh Republic G. Nersisyan, heads of the subdivisions of the RA Prosecutor's Office.

 

During 2020. 26468 cases of crimes were registered in the republic compared to 26850 of the last year. The cases were decreased by 382 or 1.4%, in Yerevan by 1069 or 7.1%.

 

In 2020 in the republic 50 cases of murder were registered compared to 47 of 2019.

 

A significant increase was noted in connection with the identification of cases of illegal tree felling. If in 2019 on this corpus delicti, 282 criminal cases were initiated, then in 2020 - 369. That is, the growth was 31%. This is due to the sequence of law enforcement and other competent authorities overseeing the detection of such cases.

 

During this period, out of 1819 materials on corruption-related crimes, by 1241 were initiated criminal cases. 183 criminal cases of corruption nature against 410 persons were sent to court with indictment.

 

During the preliminary investigation, only by completed corruption cases, damage in the amount of 7.8 billion AMD was detected, and the damage was recovered in the amount of 4.6 billion AMD, which is by 223% more than in 2019.

 

Artur Davtyan emphasized the role of the Prosecutor's Office in the tendencies to reduce the number of burglaries. He instructed by using measures of prosecutorial influence, to dramatically increase the effectiveness of investigative actions and operational-search measures, to submit petitions to the competent authorities to resolve the issues raised.

 

The Prosecutor General also raised the issue of detention practice, highlighting in the detention protocols the issue of the lack of clarity in some cases of the grounds for detention, as a result of which it is often impossible to form a conviction of lawfulness.
